Casters are good at 20-25, melee are good for 25-30. 25 lets you get at least 4 hits with most greatswords/3 hits with most ultras. This isn't including RoF. I personally almost always settle for 25 before Chlor/RoF help immensely but you still have to adjust to your weapon. Honestly, 20 is usually fine in all scenarios imo except for ultras.
